“למה היכיתני זה שלוש רגלים”

Rashi explains “You’re looking to destroy the nation which celebrates שלוש רגלים “. 

Why does ה' specifically allude to the שלוש רגלים?

“לא יחמוד איש את ארצך בעלותך לראות את פני ה' אלקיך שלש פעמים בשנה”.   We find that on Yomim Tovim  there is an extra שמירה for כלל ישראל.  This שמירה refers to our material possessions – how much more for our spirituality!

This, then, was Hashem’s statement to Bil’am:  As you see from the שלוש רגלים  - I give my protection to the Jewish people both materially and spiritually.  You don’t stand a chance against them!
