אנכי אנכי הוא מנחמכם
The Rebbe Shlit”a said in the name of the Emunas Avraham זצוק"ל:
Chazal tell us: "היזהרו בזקן ששכח תלמודו, שלוחות ושברי לוחות מונחים בארון" (Be careful to honour a Talmid Chacham who has forgotten his learning, since both the לוחות and שברי לוחות were placed in the ארון).
Even though he has “lost” his Torah, he still has importance in the eyes of ה'.
This, then, is our comfort: Even though the Jewish people aren’t on the high level of times previous, and have lost much of their Torah, and are compared to the “broken” לוחות. Even so - “ אנכי אנכי “ – the אנכי of the “broken” לוחות are together with the אנכי of the “complete, unbroken and untainted” לוחות. Even though we’re broken, ה' sees us together with the complete לוחות.
This is our comfort.!
