What is the connection between the splitting of Yam Suf and the month of Elul?

The miracle and redemption of the Jewish people at Yam Suf came when ה' saw the determination of Nachshon Ben Aminadav when he jumped, unprepared, into the sea, even though there was no way he could survive in normal circumstances.

During the month of Elul, a person might have feelings he hasn’t made the proper preparations, and imagine to himself that he can’t elevate himself.  We learn from the connection between Elul and Yam Suf precisely the opposite:  If a person has determination to get the most out of Elul, and “dives in” even if he feels he’s not prepared, precisely here  ה' sends extra help!
